Photonic Edge Inc. was founded in July 2019 as a university spin-off — the first certified startup from Gifu University, Japan.
The company started with a high-frequency measurement business built on electro-optic (EO) sensor probe technology for visualizing millimeter-wave and terahertz-wave fields, developed at the Hisatake Laboratory of Gifu University.
Today, in addition to high-frequency measurement, we provide solutions that support our customers' development in the millimeter-wave and terahertz bands: custom instrument manufacturing, PoC partnership through joint research and business alliances, and business-seed creation through joint research and contract development — from instruments to services.

Millimeter-wave and terahertz-wave measurement — from contract measurement services to custom-built inline instruments. Antenna near-field measurement, material characterization, electric-field visualization, and imaging: we cover every measurement style. Design services such as antenna design and high-frequency PCB design are also available on a contract basis.
Outsource the R&D tasks that are out of reach in-house — early-stage research, proof-of-concept studies, and more. We cover wireless technology development (FPGA, custom SDR, antenna design, high-frequency PCB design) across communications, wireless power transfer, and sensing, and can also carry out experiments as embedded researchers.
We develop new wireless applications and algorithms from scratch, and we also deliver our accumulated measurement, signal-processing, and wireless-control know-how by integrating it into your products and systems. Building something new, or embedding into what you already have — we do both.
Frequency multipliers, harmonic mixers, and power meters for the millimeter-wave and sub-terahertz bands. We also build transmitter/receiver modules and analog/digital front-ends.
