MM-WAVE DEVICES / HARMONIC MIXER — UNDER DEVELOPMENT

Harmonic Mixers

Measuring or receiving millimeter-wave and sub-terahertz signals directly is hard — but a harmonic mixer lets you mix them with harmonics of a local oscillator and bring them down to a convenient IF band. We are developing harmonic mixers with E-band (60 GHz–) through J-band (up to 330 GHz) in scope, and development up to the D-band (110–170 GHz) is complete. This page introduces products under development; specifications will be published band by band as development completes.

D-band complete — moving to higher bands

On the right: the developed harmonic mixer with its LO/IF diplexer section, and a measured frequency response (conversion loss) of the D-band harmonic mixer. We develop the mixer not as a bare component but as a working configuration including the LO/IF separation and other peripherals.

  • Complete up to D-band (110–170 GHz); development continuing toward J-band (up to 330 GHz)
  • Waveguide input with coaxial LO/IF — easy to integrate into existing measurement and receiver chains
  • Applications: frequency extension of spectrum measurement, down-conversion receiver chains, and more

Peripherals and full modules

Using a harmonic mixer in practice requires peripherals: an LO driver (multiplier amplifier), filters, diplexers. We build these peripheral components and, on request, assemble complete receiver modules (down-converters with PLL and drivers included).

  • LO driver amplifiers, filters, and LO/IF diplexers built to order
  • Assembly into receiver (down-converter) modules
  • Extension into complete measurement systems
